St. Monica Study House organized some activities with the hostel girls. We had a special prayer service with the hostellers in the Chapel and also some cultural programs. We also explained to them a brief history of our Congregation and of our presence here in India and of our great family scattered all round the world. They were very much interested to know about us.
The hostellers are 30 at present and comprise of girls coming from various in India. Many are from South India. But we also have girls from the North and the North East like Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur and also from Nepal, Bhutan, and Sudan. Some are students studying in the colleges and a few are also working women. Some hostellers were interviewed who expressed how they felt being in the hostel and how the sisters had influenced them in their lives.
They also put up a special program in view of the celebration of 125 years. Different dances were presented from different cultural contexts of India – the traditional Bharathanatyam and dances from North East India. They sang songs and made this day a memorable one in the life of the Hostel. It was a moment of great joy for us to be with the hostellers on this occasion of the 125th anniversary celebration.
